Riess's traditional enamel roasting dish with its two typical handles reminds many people of their Grandma’s Chelsea buns or Sunday roast.  This baking or roasting dish – depending on the occasion – really is something special. It’s an incredibly versatile piece of cookware that can be used to cook anything that you want bake, roast or gratinate in the oven and then serve at the table directly afterwards.

Enamel is made from iron fused with glass at high temperatures, therefore it’s made from natural raw materials.  Enamel cookware is suitable for use with all types of cooktops (gas, electric, ceramic, induction and even open flame). Thanks to the iron core, the heat is conducted quickly and is then retained. This ensures sustainable, energy-efficient cooking.  The non-porous, smooth, glass surface guarantees perfect hygiene, as it’s flavour-neutral, prevents bacteria growth and is easy to clean.

When used and cared for properly, enamel cookware can provide years of cooking enjoyment and will maintain its characteristic glossy appearance.  For use and care tips see:  https://www.riess.at/en/use-care/roasting/

Please note:

  • If you drop or hit enamelware with something it won’t break but may chip.
  • If the outer porcelain layer does chip, the steel beneath naturally oxidises and the enamelware remains safe to use.
  • Never heat enamelware without contents as this may cause the base to warp.
  • Always choose a hob on a stove top with the most suitable diameter that is not too small.
  • Always heat up gradually, turn it up slowly and then reduce the heat again. Do not use the boost function on induction stoves.
  • Sudden changes in temperature, such as soaking in water after heating may cause cracks or breakage.
  • It is recommended to clean enamelware by hand. For tougher stains soak bicarbonate soda or lemon juice on the stain for half an hour and wash as normal.
  • Avoid using harsh cleaning products or aids such as steel wool or scourers as these can scratch the surface.
