This jug is the classic pot that traditionally always stood on the stove. Some people also call it a milk pot or milk mug, but for Riess it will always be a jug because of its characteristically shaped spout. This spout allows the liquids in the jug to reach the intended container without spilling a drop and is particularly suitable for serving directly at the table thanks to its round handle. The rim is curved – known as a rolled rim in enamel terms – and is created by bending the metal during the manufacturing process to form a rounded and stable rim.

Enamel is made from iron fused with glass at high temperatures.  Enamel products are suitable for use with all types of cookers (gas, electric, ceramic, induction and even open flame). Thanks to its iron core, the enamel conducts heat in the blink of an eye and retains it for a long time, ensuring energy-efficient cooking. The non-porous, smooth, glass surface guarantees perfect hygiene. Enamel cookware is also recommended for people with nickel allergies.

When used and cared for properly, enamelware can provide years of enjoyment.  Please note:

  • If you drop or hit enamelware with something it won’t break but may chip.
  • If the outer porcelain layer does chip, the steel beneath naturally oxidises and the enamelware remains safe to use.
  • Never heat enamelware without contents as this may cause the base to warp.
  • Always choose a hob on a stove top with the most suitable diameter that is not too small.
  • Always heat up gradually, turn it up slowly and then reduce the heat again. Do not use the boost function on induction stoves.
  • Sudden changes in temperature, such as soaking in water after heating may cause cracks or breakage.
  • It is recommended to clean enamelware by hand. For tougher stains soak bicarbonate soda or lemon juice on the stain for half an hour and wash as normal.
  • Avoid using harsh cleaning products or aids such as steel wool or scourers as these can scratch the surface.
