Handmade Herb Trug
These trugs have been hand made from Tasmanian grown timbers. Commonly used timbers are Sycamore and English Elm. These timbers have been salvaged or the result of weed eradication programs. The trugs are created with the traditional method of steam bending in order to produce the distinctive forms. The Elm featured on the inside of the trugs are sourced from the old homesteads around Tasmania, where the trees were planted on settlement of this state. Currently the Elm is from the “Bowerbank” property on the outskirts of Deloraine.
The trugs are have been treated with Linseed oil. To care for your trugs, subsequent coats of oil is all that is needed. A good indication for when, is if they start to look dry. You cannot give them too much oil.
Please note: timber is a natural product, variations in colour and shape will occur, every effort is made to keep the product consistent
